Before we enter the Advent and Christmas seasons, Christians from various denominations around the world observe the Season of Creation. This special time runs from September 1 to October 4, culminating on the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi.
The Season of Creation was first proposed by Ecumenical Patriarch Dimitrios in 1989 and was later endorsed by Pope Francis in 2015. September 1 is designated as a day of Prayer for Creation.
This year’s theme for the Season of Creation (2024) is "Hope and Act with Creation," inspired by Romans 8:19-25 from St. Paul’s Letter to the Romans.
