"Sacred Heart Congress Ignites Faith and Family Spirit: ‘Puso Ni Hesus Para sa Pamilya’"

The 5th Sacred Heart Congress was successfully held on October 19, 2024, with the theme “Puso Ni Hesus Para sa Pamilya” (The Heart of Jesus for the Family). The event, hosted at the Sacred Heart Parish-Shrine, the diocesan shrine in the Diocese of Cubao, drew over 400 participants, bringing together families and individuals to reflect on the importance of faith and Christ’s love in strengthening family life.

The day began with a warm welcome and a gathering song led by Mariz Umali, who also served as the emcee, followed by an invocation from Mon and Merlyn Arguelles of the Family & Life Ministry. In his opening remarks, Rev. Fr. Randy Flores, SVD, the SHPS Parish Priest and Rector, emphasized the missionary dimension of the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, with the family being the first place of mission. Notably, the event coincided with World Mission Sunday the following day.

A highlight of the Congress was the keynote address delivered by Bishop Arturo Bastes, SVD, DD, Bishop Emeritus of Sorsogon. His talk focused on the rich history of the Sacred Heart devotion, including the consecration of nations initiated by St. Mary of the Divine Heart, and the later call to consecrate families.

The program also featured heartfelt testimonies from three families—Atty. Rene Sarmiento, Roy and Ross Racela, and Ronnie and Jouella Traballo—each sharing personal stories of faith and resilience. Their insights offered practical guidance on how to navigate family life with the love of Christ.

Before the conclusion of the Holy Mass, Rev. Fr. Randy Flores, SVD, the parish priest and rector of the Sacred Heart Parish-Shrine, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated members of the Sacred Congress Committee who worked tirelessly to make the event a success.

Fr. Randy personally acknowledged Leny Fabul, the head of the committee, along with her team members: Ellen Virina and her sister Elsa Uson, Chit Bobis, Bennie Pabalan, Dindo Bunag, Jerry de Guzman, for the theme’s art design, Kara David-Cancio, Mon Arguelles of the Family and Life Ministry, Franz Hipol, and Atty. Caloy. Their collective effort, commitment, and passion ensured the smooth flow of the congress and enriched the experience for all participants.

The day concluded with a solemn Holy Mass celebrated by Bishop Arturo Bastes, SVD, bringing the Congress to a spiritually fulfilling close. Before departing, participants shared a simple meal. They left inspired, carrying the message of "Puso Ni Hesus Para sa Pamilya," and were ready to live out Christ’s love in their homes.
