Sacred Heart Parish-Shrine of the Diocese of Cubao will host its 5th Annual Sacred Heart Congress on Saturday, October 19, 2024. The theme for this year’s event is Puso ni Hesus para sa Pamilya (Heart of Jesus for the Family), focusing on the love of Christ within the family. Its goal is also to raise awareness of the 350th year of the apparitions of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque.
The Jubilee anniversary celebration began on December 27, 2023 the date of the first apparition to St. Margaret Mary in 1673, and will last until June 25, 2025, the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart and the 350th anniversary of the final apparition.
At the upcoming Sacred Heart Congress, the keynote speaker will be the Most Rev. Arturo Bastes, SVD, D.D., who will also preside over the concluding Mass. Bishop Bastes, a native of Bohol, is the former bishop of the Diocese of Romblon (1997-2002) and the Diocese of Sorsogon (2003-2019). Before becoming a bishop, he was a professor of Sacred Scripture at Divine Word Seminary in Tagaytay and Provincial Superior of the SVD Philippine Central Province.
Other sharers include the couples Atty. Rene Larraine Sarmiento and Mr. and Mrs. Roy and Ross Racela and Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie and Jouela Traballo. The event will be hosted by GMA’s Mariz Umali-Tima, a member of the parish's lectors ministry.
The congress begins with registration at 7:30 AM and conclude with the Holy Mass at 11:30 AM. Snacks and lunch will be provided.
