The Sacred Heart Parish-Shrine has invited renowned Filipino missionary and philosopher Fr. Raymun Festin, SVD, to lead its annual Advent recollection on First Friday, December 6, 2024, starting at 5:30 PM. The event aims to help the faithful spiritually prepare for Christmas through reflection and prayer.
Fr. Festin, a member of the Society of the Divine Word, has served as a missionary in Angola, Africa, for nearly 20 years. He holds a doctorate in philosophy from the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium and has authored several notable books, including Beliefs and Certitudes (2008), Mindfulness (2012), The Black Nazarene and Philosophy (2021), and The Metaphysics of the Holy Eucharist (2023).
Having previously served as the provincial superior of the SVD Philippine Central Province and as a councilor for the worldwide SVD congregation in Rome, Fr. Festin now teaches philosophy at Christ the King Seminary in Quezon City.
The recollection schedule is as follows:
5:30 PM – Holy Hour (Eucharistic Adoration)
6:00 PM – Reflection by Fr. Raymun Festin, SVD, followed by Holy Mass
6:30 PM – Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession)
Post-Mass – Light meal
